The Artist climbs into world’s top 20

Kevin Painter has returned to the PDC world top 20 following his run to the partypoker.com World Grand Prix quarter-finals last week.

The Artist – one of five UK Sports Management players at the doubles-away competition – returned from the Citywest Hotel, Dublin, with £15,000 having reached the final eight.

The Unicorn Darts user eased past Andy Hamilton in the opening round before battling back from two sets down to knock out two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis.

Painter again forced a deciding set against new world number seven Gary Anderson in the quarter-finals, firing in a memorable 152 checkout to level.

Although the Scotsman edged a high-quality final set, his opponent’s achievements were enough to climb to 20th globally ahead of Steve Beaton and hot on the tails of Terry Jenkins.
