Kevin Painter joins the other 31 players lucky enough to have qualified for the unique “Grand Slam of Darts” at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton. The tournament has a unique ‘group stage’ – with every player getting to play in front of the Sky Sports cameras at least three times – The Artist will be hoping to be on your screens far more than that! Kevin’s first game is 5th on Saturday evening.
The top two players from each group will progress to play in the knockout Second Round from Wednesday onwards, with the tournament concluding with the semi-finals and final on Sunday November 17.
Tickets for the William Hill Grand Slam of Darts are still available by calling 0870 320 7000 or by visiting www.wolvescivic.co.uk.
Kevin’s Group – a tough-un!
Phil Taylor (1)
William Hill Grand Slam of Darts
Saturday November 9, Evening Session (7pm-11pm)
Group stage game 1: Kevin Painter 2-5 Paul Nicholson
Sunday November 10 Evening Session (7pm-11pm)
Groups A-D Second Games
Group stage game 2: Kevin Painter 4-5 Stuart Kellett
Kevin isn’t quite sure how he loses this game – he seemed to be on for a good victory, but Stuart managed to come back and win. Kev will play Phil Taylor in game three, playing for pride.
Tuesday November 12 (7pm-11pm)
Group stage game 3: Kevin Painter 0-5 Phil Taylor
Not a lot The Artist can do in that game… as the guvnor hits over 105 average and doesn’t give Kev a shot at a double. His ruthless form continues. Kevin actually probably plays his best game from the three – just Kev’s luck it’s against Taylor!
Kevin next plays on TV in the Player Championships on ITV4, then of course at Christmas it’s the World Championships!
