Kevin Painter throwing at the 2016 worlds (Pic Lawrence Lustig/PDC)
The Artist takes part in the worlds biggest darts tournament this weekend, as he takes his place in the PDC 2016 World Darts Championships. With a £300,000 first prize, and £10,000 on offer to first round losers, this is the greatest ever prize in darts.
It’s all being shown live on Sky Sports, which has it’s own 24/7 darts channel during the three weeks of the tournament.

Kevin’s first game at the worlds is Saturday afternoon, against the winner of a prelim game.
Round 1: Kevin Painter 3-0 Kim Viljanen
A good solid job against the pre-lim player, 47% on doubles, “If you’re going to do damage, you’ve got to hit your doubles” Kev says in his post match interview.
Round 2: Kevin Painter 1-4 Phil Taylor
A great start from the Artist, taking the first set 3-1 with a break, then a hold, and a ‘cheeky’ d12, d14 checkout on 52. That’s one way to go out! Kevin has a chance in set 2, as he takes it to 2-2, but Phil just holds him off on his own throw to even the game up. A hugely frustrating 3rd set for Kevin, as both he and Phil miss loads of attempts at their doubles, and it’s Phil who managed to hit his d2. Phil starts hitting more doubles (and a 170 c/o) as his confidence grows unfortunately for Kev.
