The Artist at the European Darts Trophy in Germany

THE European Darts Trophy kicks off on Friday, with the first round being held in one bumper session at the Kohlrabizirkus in Leipzig, Germany.

The £100,000 tournament is the year’s final European Tour event, featuring 48 players competing across the weekend, and Kevin is won of those players, after he qualified for the event earlier in the year.

Kev plays on day 1, against young talent James Hubbard, and if he comes through that, he’ll face Wes Newton on Saturday.

European Darts Trophy
Friday September 19

Round 1:  Kevin Painter 6-5 James Hubbard

A tight game, as it goes to 5-5.. then in the decider, it also goes all the way, with Hubbard missing the bull for a 122 finish to see another match dart go begging before Painter lands double 12 to move through to face Wes Newton on Saturday afternoon.

Round 2:  Kevin Painter 3-6 Wes Newton

Unfortunately a few too many missed doubles against Wes, who hit 50% of his to take the game.
