Kevin Painter 2016 worlds

The Artist takes part in the worlds biggest darts tournament this weekend, as he takes his place in the PDC 2016 World Darts Championships.  With a £300,000 first prize, and £10,000 on offer to first round losers, this is the greatest ever prize in darts.

It’s all being shown live on Sky Sports, which has it’s own 24/7 darts channel during the three weeks of the tournament.

Kevin’s first game at the worlds is Saturday afternoon, against the winner of a prelim game.

Round 1:  Kevin Painter 3-0 Kim Viljanen

A good solid job against the pre-lim player, 47% on doubles, “If you’re going to do damage, you’ve got to hit your doubles” Kev says in his post match interview.

Round 2:  Kevin Painter 1-4 Phil Taylor

A great start from the Artist, taking the first set 3-1 with a break, then a hold, and a ‘cheeky’ d12, d14 checkout on 52.  That’s one way to go out!  Kevin has a chance in set 2, as he takes it to 2-2, but Phil just holds him off on his own throw to even the game up.  A hugely frustrating 3rd set for Kevin, as both he and Phil miss loads of attempts at their doubles, and it’s Phil who managed to hit his d2.  Phil starts hitting more doubles (and a 170 c/o) as his confidence grows unfortunately for Kev.

2015 European Darts Trophy

Kevin Painter euro darts 2015

THE European Darts Trophy started on Friday 11th Sept with the first round of the PDC European Tour event in Muelheim, Germany. The three-day £115,000 tournament saw 48 players competing at the RWE Sporthalle, with the event streamed LIVE ONLINE throughout.

It’s been what feels a LONG time since the PDC tour’s last event, and Kevin is itching to get back on it, so it’s now time to concentrate again, as the PDC events will come thick and fast again from now till the end of the year.

The Artist starts in round 1 on Friday against a very experienced former BDO no. 1, Alan Norris.

Round 1:  Kevin Painter 6-3 Alan Norris

Competing in his first PDC event for over two months, Kevin looked as if he had never been away as he impressively saw off former Lakeside runner-up Alan Norris 6-3, landing four 180s in the process.

Round 2:  Kevin Painter 6-4 Vincent van der Voort

Another good win against the 15th seed sees Kevin progress to Sunday’s finals day.

Round 3:   Kevin Painter 4-6 Michael Smith (2)

Kevin Painter Joins Team Winmau

winmau logoWinmau, the world’s leading darts brand, are delighted to announce a new 3 year contract with Kevin Painter.
Kevin, a legend on the PDC tour, has been playing professional darts for over 20 years and his unique style has seen him become a firm fan favourite.

Kevin said “Having the team at Winmau behind me is like having a new lease of life. I cannot believe the difference in approach and passion that they have for darts and for making genuinely amazing darts equipment. I was astounded when being custom fit at their technical darts knowledge and the level of detail they cover, even down to my eye-dominance. No tweak or subtle change was too much trouble, and it’s an amazing feeling to have that much skill and support behind me”.

Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, said “Kevin has been part of the professional darts fabric for over 2 decades and there isn’t anyone in darts who doesn’t know who he is and what a tough opponent he can be. Kevin is determined to get back to his best, and now he’s got the Winmau team behind him we fully expect to see him flying high and ruffling a few feathers again!”
Kevin’s darts will be available as part of the new 2016 Winmau Collection later in the year.

The Artist Signs with BW9 Sports Management

Kevin has signed a new deal, joining forces with a relatively new sports management team, BW9 Sports management.  They also look after Matt Edgar, someone who Kevin is very familiar with on the darts circuit.

After a disappointing run of results, Kevin feels he is at a turning point, as his form returns and he’s qualified for back to back European Tour events, which come with £115,000 each in prize money to be won.

Signing up with BW9 has come at a great time for me, just as my form has started to pick up again.  Having Wayne and Becky behind me will help me keep my focus on the things that matter; winning my games of darts!

Kevin will proudly represent BW9 in his next PDC events, and in his many upcoming darts exhibitions.

Kevin have been participating in the Midlands Invitational Elite Singles Darts League held in Coventry, run by BW9 Sports Management, over the past few weeks with Painter topping the table ahead of Nigel Heydon in second.

We are delighted to announce the signing of Kevin Painter and look forward to exciting times ahead – Wayne Niner of BW9

2015 Half Year Review

It’s early July, about half way through the PDC season, so it’s a good time to have a look at where The Artist is.  Kevin’s form in 2015 has been patchy, and you just know that Kevin will be practicing harder and looking to come back with a bang in the second half of 2015. Kev is currently ranked 24th in the world, with £131,500 won over two years.  A good run in Sept/Oct could easily see him move quickly back up that ranking table.

It’s on the floor where Kevin needs some better luck, as his ranking of 35th with £17,000 won is really not reflective of his talent.  Being in that top 32 is very important, ensuring you’re a seed in floor events and getting into certain TV tournaments.  Just £750 separates The Artist from that 32nd spot, so that will be first on the list of targets.

The good news is that Kev qualified for both of the September Euro tour events, winning through in both qualifiers in Wigan, so that guarantees him at least £1000 in each event, which goes onto both the main ranking plus the pro tour order of merit.
